Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
